Overview
The YouTube policy page allows you to configure the extension to block or allow specific videos, channels or keywords on https://youtube.com
On this page there are different sub-tabs that you can configure:
Keywords:
Here you can configure which keywords on videos are blocked and which are allowed.
NoteKeywords are set by the user that uploads the video. Sometimes they won't make sense for what the video content is for.
Channels:
Here you can configure which YouTube channels are blocked and which are allowed.
Videos:
Here you can configure which specific videos are block and which are allowed.
Analyze Video:
Here you can input a video or channel URL and it will return all the metadata of the video or channel. You can also allow or block videos, keywords and channels depending on if you analyzed a video or channel
Settings:
This tab allows you to remove certain aspects of the webpage on a YouTube video. This includes the Sidebar(Suggested videos on the right side), Live chat and Comments
Keywords Tab
Blocking/Allowing a Keyword
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Keyword Tab - Select the OU you'd like to have the keyword applied to.
Note:Not choosing an OU applies it to your whole domain. - In the form input labeled
Keyword, enter in any keyword that you would like to block or allow. - Click the
BlockorAllowbuttons below to either block or allow. - If you've done everything correctly, you'll see your keyword appear below in the table.
Removing a Blocked/Allowed Keyword
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Keyword Tab - Select the OU you applied this keyword to.
- Scroll down to the table of keywords that are either blocked or allowed
- Locate the keyword that you are looking for in the table
- In the
Actionscolumn, click the red trashcan icon - You should see the keyword in that column disappear
Channels Tab
Allowing or blocking a Channel
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Channel Tab - Select the OU you'd like to apply this new policy to
- Input the channel url into the
Channel Urlfield - Click either
AlloworBlockbuttons below
Removing a blocked or allowed channel
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Channel Tab - Select the OU you applied this channel block/allow to.
- Scroll down to the table of channels that are either blocked or allowed and locate the one you wish to remove.
- In the actions column, click the red trash can icon to remove it.
Videos Tab
Allowing or Blocking a Specific Video
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Video Tab - Select the OU you'd like to apply this new policy to
- Input the video url into the
Video Urlfield - Click either
AlloworBlockbuttons below
Removing a Blocked or Allowed Video
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Video Tab - Select the OU you created this policy at
- Scroll down to the table of videos that are either blocked or allowed and locate the one you wish to remove.
- In the actions column, click the red trash can icon to remove it.
Analyze Video Tab
Getting Channel or Video Metadata
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Analyze Video - In the
Video Urlfield, input a video or channel url. - Click the
Analyzebutton and wait for the results
Blocking or Allowing MetaData
- Navigate to the YouTube page
Policy->YouTube->Analyze Video - In the
Video Urlfield, input a video or channel url. - Click the
Analyzebutton and wait for the results. - In the table below you'll see the following:
Video Title,Channel Name, andKeywords - From here you can block and allow various things by clicking the
AlloworBlockbuttons on the far right hand side. - In the
Keywordssection you can click theBlock AllorAllow Allbuttons to block or allow all keywords that are displayed. Alternatively you can select which ones you which to block or allow and then press theBlock SelectedorAllow Selectedbuttons.
Settings Tab
Block Sidebar
Enabling this toggle will block the sidebar when viewing a YouTube video. This side bar provides suggestions on what video(s) you should watch or what is up next if it is a playlist.
Block Live Chat
Enabling this toggle will block any live chat that shows up on the page for live streams
Block Comments
Enabling this toggle will block the comments below every video.
